If you found me, you are probably looking to make a change, right? Well, let me tell you a bit about myself and let's see if I'm a good fit!
First and foremost, I'm a human. I am fallible. I make mistakes. I take accountability. Then I come back stronger. What this means for you is that I am well versed in what it's like to feel as if I can never make the right decision, and I can help you work through that mindset too. Very frequently, you will find me sitting on the floor of my office journaling as I try to process through a new level of growth in my own life and passing those lessons on to you.
I am a music lover of all types, but mostly early 2000's emo and alt rock. Band tees, oversized cardigans, and leggings are my uniform, and if you see me wearing "real pants" the chances are that someone new is coming in and I'm trying to make a good impression. But let's be real, if you are reading this, you already know what to expect. You see, if there is one thing in life that I have learned, it's that life is too short to not be me, unapologetically.
I believe that food can be medicine, and that self-care is not always a bubble bath. Music can heal, and movies can ease anxiety. But above all, I believe that knowing yourself at a higher level is the key to being truly happy.
I feel like this area is always a little braggy, but people like knowing that the person they are trusting is someone worthy of that trust, right?
My story is different than many others out there, but at the same time it starts the same as many a teen out there, I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up! Well, what do you do when you have no clue? I joined the military, the USAF to be specific. After leaving the military, and a divorce, I went into education, spending 13 years as a paraprofessional and instructional assistant in a local middle school. At the age of 34, I made the decision to go back to school. Luckily this was when COVID hit, so I had loads of free time to go back to school and change jobs all at once. I completed a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with focus areas of Crisis Counseling, Family Advocacy, and Health Care Administration, as well as a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from Liberty University. All the while I was working in community mental health as a case manager, helping families overcome struggles every single day. At this point in time, I have worked in the mental health field for over 4 years in one capacity or another. I even went on to pass all necessary exams to obtain licensure as a counselor in the state of Missouri.
So if I have passed those exams, then why do I operate as a coach instead of a counselor? Great question... Glad you asked. Actually, it's just because the model of coaching fits better with how I operate.
